Austin-based artist Mandy Rothenberg has played piano for over 20 years, and has been performing professionally in the Austin-area for over 10 of them. Raised in Georgetown, Texas, Mandy has fond memories of growing up in a musical, creative household in which both of her parents also loved playing piano, singing, and teaching, as both were teachers themselves. She began taking piano lessons at the age of 6 at Southwestern University in  Georgetown, and has supplemented her early studies with further studies at The University of Texas, as well as private lessons with local jazz
musicians. As a composer and performer, Mandy enjoys playing hundreds of songs which span over 100 years of popular tunes, from the earlier jazz standards to current popular hits. Mandy began her professional music career in High School, playing piano and singing weekly at the Old San Francisco Steakhouse, and was also frequently found entertaining at Sun City Georgetown’s restaurant Accents, Saradora’s Coffeehouse in Round Rock, and numerous special occasions and receptions. This is Mandy’s sixth year as pianist for Nordstrom at Barton Creek Mall, and Mandy currently continues playing at country clubs such as the prestigious Westwood Country Club, as well as other private special events. Mandy also loves sharing her passion for music with others and began teaching piano in 1996. She has a degree in pedagogy from the University of Texas at Austin and her Texas Teaching Certificate. Having taught Elementary School for five years, and having tutored students of all ages (3 years to 65 years old) in all subjects for over 13 years, Mandy is an experienced teacher and guides in an easy-to-understand, engaging, and innovative manner. She enjoys tailoring her instruction to meet the individual needs, learning style, and level of each student and strives to keep her students challenged and enthused. Mandy is currently scheduling students for summer and fall of 2009 , and will arrange for fun, theme-based, quarterly piano recitals. She not only teaches piano skills but also performing skills to enable students to share their hard work and music with others.
